At a French airport one day, the customs official looked suspiciously at Hitchcock's passport, in which his occupation was listed simply as "Producer." "What do you produce?" he asked. "Gooseflesh," Hitchcock replied.

Hitchcock never sat among the audience to watch his films. "Don't you miss hearing them scream?" he was once asked. "No," replied Hitchcock. "I can hear them when I'm making the picture."
Biographical Note...
British film director who worked mainly in the United States after 1940. Hitchcock began his career in the 1920s as an illustrator for silent movie intertitle cards. In 1923, he got his first chance at directing and the studio chiefs were impressed with his work. He became a master of sophisticated cinematic effects used to produce an atmosphere of tension. Among the best known of his brilliant thrillers were Psycho (1960) and The Birds (1963). In late 1979, Hitchcock was knighted, making him Sir Alfred Hitchcock. He died peacefully in his sleep on April 29, 1980.
