In the hospital Dorothy Parker was visited by her secretary, to whom she wished to dictate some letters. Pressing the button marked NURSE, Dorothy observed, "That should assure us of a least forty-five minutes of undisturbed privacy."

A friend was very upset at having to get rid of his cat. Dorothy Parker suggested, "Have you tried curiosity?"

Biographical Note...

U.S. short-story writer, theater critic, doyenne of minor light verse, and wit. Also known as Dot or Dottie, Parker was best known for her caustic wit, wisecracks, and sharp eye for 20th century Urban foibles. She was the founder and a member of the famous "Algonquin Round Table."
