Biographical Note...
Irish playwright. Born in Dublin, he went to London at the age of 20, where he remained for the rest of his life. After writing five unsuccessful novels he became a music and drama critic and an active socialist. He wrote more than 40 plays, many of which have retained their enormous popularity. He was a witty speaker and writer of letters. Perhaps you've seen "My Fair Lady"? It was a film adaptation of Shaw's play, "Pygmalion."
