Dylan Marlais Thomas

Anecdote...
On one occasion when Dylan Thomas had been drinking and talking freely for some time, he suddenly stopped. "Somebody's boring me," he said. "I think it's me."
Dylan Thomas at age 19.
Biographical Note...
Welsh poet. His talents as a reader of poetry and radio actor brought him success, but he was perpetually short of money. One of his most popular works includes the sketch "A Child's Christmas in Wales" (1955), but his more ambitious work consists of the complex poems in which he expressed a deeply romantic vision. Thomas's first book of verse, 18 Poems (1934), was praised by a few discriminating critics in spite of its obscurity, and in 1936 a second volume, Twenty-Five Poems, followed. He died prematurely of alcoholism soon after presenting in New York his play for voices, "Under Milk Wood."
