Paw Prints TidBits for March Spring is coming to the northern hemisphere and nature is bursting with signs of new beginnings. Time to let "last things" make way for "first things" ... but not without one final look. The sidebar contains some famous last words spoken by people on their death beds. [Have you thought of how you'd like to "go?"] An energetic walker and lover of mountain scenery, Ker revisited the Italian Alps in 1923. Walking up the slopes of the Pizzo Bianco at Macugnaga, he paused to remark to his companions, "I thought this was the most beautiful spot in the world, and now I know it." B i o g r a p h i c a l . N o t e . . . British scholar; professor of English at University College, London (1889-1922). Ker's most important work was in the field of medieval poetry, and his wide knowledge of European literatures is seen in such works as Epic and Romance (1897).
