Ants

An ant collects honeydew from an aphid.

• Queen ants in captivity have been known to live as long as 20 years.
• Ants hate vinegar.
• All ocean liners have ants.
• Some ants have eyes, some don't.
• There is only one general in an army ant column...a queen.
• South American soldier ants march about a mile every 3 hours.
• Ants (and man) are the only animals that wage war in battle formations.
• St. Patrick is credited with having driven the ants out of Puerto Rico.
• Ants follow an ant trail. If it intersects with itself to complete a circle, they may walk in that circle until they fall dead. Ants don't foresee.
• Only female ants can sting.
• Ants hate termites. Termites hate ants.
