Eagles
Two eagles build a nest and return each year to add a bit here and a bit there.
- The bald eagle builds a nest about 12 feet deep and 8 feet across — the dimensions of the average child's bedroom.
- Next to Alaska, Florida has the most bald eagles.
- By the way, eagles don't go bald.
- An eagle's eyesight is so good that if it could
read, it could perch on a football field's goalpost
and read a newspaper under the goalpost at the
other end.
- On cloudy days, people see better than eagles.
- The bald eagle is a powerful flier, and reaches speeds of 35–44 miles per hour when gliding and flapping, and about 30 miles per hour while carrying fish.
