The World's Champion High Jumper
Anyone who owns a pet is likely to be all too familiar
with a bothersome little insect called the flea.
These hard-boiled, bloodsucking pests live in the
hair of warm-blooded animals, and can pass from one
host to another quite easily. But did you know that
fleas do not have wings? Their mobility depends entirely
on their extraordinary leaping ability. These meddlesome
mites can jump one hundred times their own height—a
feat comparable to a man's jumping as high as a forty-story
building!
