Frogs
Listen
to a frog:
- You can examine the internal organs of a little green
Madagascar frog without dissection. Its abdominal
skin is translucent.
- The word "amphibian" means "double
life."
- A group of frogs is called a knot.
- The hair frog of Cameroon in West Africa has
no hair.
- Bullfrogs close their eyes when they jump.
- It is said that the only predator that will eat
a lightning bug is a frog.
- Frogs have teeth, but toads don't.
- Frogs get athlete's foot.
- A lot of tadpoles actually grow larger than the
frogs they turn into. For example, the Paradox
Frog of the Amazon starts out as a 9-inch tadpole
and ends up as a 3-inch frog.
- The bullfrog's skin turns dark 12 hours before
it rains.
- Northern frogs hibernate. Southern frogs don't.
That's why southern frogs grow bigger. They get
more growth time.
- Researchers note that a croaking bullfrog holds
its note a little longer than usual whenever
a jet plane flies overhead.
- History records that 100,000 small toads once
fell out of the sky upon a group of villagers in
France.
