- You can pluck an ostrich every nine months, from
its third to twelfth year.
- Although the ostrich cannot fly, its wings are
extremely useful. They balance the bird when it
runs.
- A widowed male ostrich never remates.
- The ostrich is the fastest animal on two feet.
It can run about 30 mph.
- The liquid in one ostrich egg is equal to 24
chicken eggs.
- A female ostrich can lay from 35 to 100 eggs
a year. Goes on for about 45 years. About 3,000
ranchers in the United States are now raising ostriches.
