- The walrus likes to eat clams...not by the dozen, by the gross. So powerful a suction does the walrus create by mouth that it whisks a clam out of its shell with hardly a squeak of the hinge.
- Walruses sleep close together. Often, when one turns over, so must the next, and the next...like dominoes.
- Most walruses have pretty bad breath.
- The walrus can get trichinosis.
- Walruses lose hair as they age.
- Each walrus has about 400 sensitive, bristly whiskers. They help find and dig up clams and mussels.

- The walrus feeds while standing on its head in water.
