Disgruntled Customer
The metal strips used to band birds are inscribed: "Notify
Fish and Wild Life Service, Washington, D.C." They used to read Washington
Biological Survey, abbreviated to "Wash. Biol. Surv." This was
changed after an Alberta farmer shot a crow and then disgustedly wrote the
U.S. government: "Dear Sirs: I shot one of your pet crows the other
day and followed instruction attached to it. It was turrible. You should
stop trying to fool the people with things like this...."
